Marcus Stoinis: “The main reason I wanted to sign with LSG was to help develop something from the ground up.”

Marcus Stoinis, an Australian all-rounder, has signed with Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2022 to assist the new team to establish from the ground up. He also discussed how former Australia great Shane Warne established a culture with the Rajasthan Royals in their early days.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) finished fourth in the playoffs after losing to Royal Challengers (RCB) in the eliminator, and third in the league with nine victories out of 14 games in their debut season in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Apart from skipper KL Rahul, Stoinis and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi were selected by the new IPL franchise before to the super auction in 2022. The all-rounder, on the other hand, had a dismal season, scoring only 156 runs and taking four wickets in 11 games.

Stoinis stated that establishing the team with captain KL Rahul and owner Sanjiv Goenka is something he would remember in 10 to 15 years. The Australian also mentioned how, in his early days in the IPL, he was just pleased to be there. He also stated that forming links and relationships with players over the years has aided him. Stoinis debuted in the IPL in 2015 with the Delhi Daredevils (now known as the Delhi Capitals), and has since played for the Kings XI Punjab (now known as the Punjab Kings), Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals.
