Aakash Chopra is in awe of Yuzvendra Chahal’s technique
In a recent YouTube video, former Indian cricketer Akash Chopra heaped admiration on renowned leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Many cricket experts have praised Chahal for his 27-wicket haul with Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2022. He was tied with Royal Challengers Bangalore spinner Wanindu Hasaranga for 26 wickets till the final match, with the Sri Lankan great having a higher average and economy rate. However, Chahal took a wicket against Hardik Pandya in the last match to earn the famous Purple Cap trophy.
Chahal also set a record for most wickets by an Indian Premier League spinner in a single season. With 68 wickets, he leads the team India wickets chart in T20 international matches, barely one wicket ahead of star bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah will be rested for the forthcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa, so Chahal will try to extend his lead by playing all five games.
The 31-year-old leg-spinner has represented India at the World Youth Chess Championship, and observers have frequently referred to him as a grandmaster for taking crucial wickets in tight situations. Now, the well-known analyst has commended Chahal for his bowling line variations, saying he feels like a grandmaster.
Rajasthan Royals management, led by Sanju Samson, utilized Chahal in death overs as well, and it worked quite well for them. Chopra has emphasized the importance of spinners bowling a fast delivery after being struck for a six on a slower one. However, he believes Chahal remains focused on bowling slowly.
