IPL 2022 – Players who may not return to the IPL next season

The final stage of the IPL 2022 is upon us, as we reflect on a remarkable season thus far. Several players have stepped out with notable performances, while others have failed to capitalize on their opportunities. Because the IPL is one of the most competitive sporting competitions in the world, only the best are permitted to represent their individual clubs.

A few well-known players have spent most of the season on the bench, casting doubt on their IPL future. This is especially true for the overseas stars, as only four players are permitted to be part of the starting 11. In this article, we look at a few players that may not play in the IPL next season, either owing to poor form or spending a significant amount of time on the bench.

Number 1. Daryl Mitchell

After his efforts in the T20I World Cup last year, Daryl Mitchell established himself as a trustworthy top-order batsman. The Rajasthan Royals selected the Kiwi batter in the auction, which was undoubtedly not their wisest decision. He appeared in just two IPL 2022 games, hitting 33 runs at an average of 16.50.

Daryl Mitchell did not receive enough opportunities in the middle for the Royals, who had Devdutt Padikkal, Yashashvi Jaiswal, and Jos Buttler available to open the innings. As a result, both companies would choose to split ways prior to the IPL 2023 auction.

Daryl Mitchell will most certainly go unsold in the auction next year, owing to his absence from the spotlight this season. However, if the Kiwi batter has a good year in the international arena, he may easily turn things around.

Number 2. Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch has most likely represented every IPL franchise. The Australian batsman was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders to replace Alex Hales in the IPL 2022. Aaron Finch has had another poor season, despite a couple of strong efforts. After a few appearances with the team, he was demoted to the bench near the end of the season.

Aaron Finch will be in the auction pool once more, and like last year, the Australian limited-overs captain will most likely go unsold. The experienced batsman has been prolific on the international scene, but he has yet to deliver in the IPL.

Given that the 50-over World Cup will be held next year, Aaron Finch may withdraw his name from the auction pool. The Australian captain may favor relaxation following a hard summer, especially given the lack of opportunities in the IPL.

.

Number 3. David Willey

David Willey did appear in the first few games for RCB, but the English all-rounder saw little action as the season progressed. The left-arm bowler was acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore at the auction, and considering his expertise, he was expected to play a larger role in RCB’s IPL 2022 campaign.

Bangalore has another left-arm international pacer in Jason Behrendorff, whom they may choose for the upcoming season. As a result, David Willey is likely to be released by the organization before the 2023 IPL Auction.

David Willey has only taken one wicket in four appearances this season, which is clearly not a fantastic record to have on your portfolio. This could be the last time we see the Englishman play in the IPL.
