AB de Villiers has confirmed his return to the RCB camp for the IPL 2023 season
AB de Villiers, one of the most spectacular batters of the modern age, has confirmed his return to the RCB squad for the 2023 IPL season. Since 2011, the South African has played a vital role for the club, winning many games on his own alongside Virat Kohli in the team. He declared his retirement from international cricket in 2018 but continued to play franchise cricket with RCB for the next three years until retiring from all forms of cricket in 2021.
The supporters were perplexed by his decision because he was in peak form despite not playing international cricket, but they realized that it had to happen eventually. Notably, in a recent conversation, Kohli hinted at the idea of his close friend De Villiers joining the RCB unit for the upcoming season but was adamant about not playing. “Did I spill the beans?” Kohli chuckled in a video posted by RCB.
De Villiers sweetened Virat Kohli’s comments by admitting that he will definitely be a part of the franchise next year, albeit his role has still to be determined. He went on to say that he missed the passionate supporters in Bangalore and felt compelled to return to the RCB setup given the likelihood of the tournament returning to the franchises’ homesites next year.
“I am glad to hear Virat confirmed it. To be honest, we haven’t decided on anything yet. I will definitely be around IPL next year. I am not sure in what capacity but I am missing getting back there,” De Villiers said.
