Liam Livingstone is ‘excited’ to prove doubters wrong with a spectacular performance in IPL 2022
Punjab Kings finished their IPL 2022 campaign on a good note, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. It was a comprehensive victory for the Mohali-based club, as SRH struggled throughout the game. PBKS had no trouble chasing down a meager 158, crossing the line with 29 balls to spare. As the England all-rounder delivered yet another damaging cameo, Liam Livingstone was one of the main architects of Punjab’s triumph.
Livingstone, batting at number five, wasted no time in attacking the SRH bowlers from the start. The 28-year-old smashed 49 off 22 balls and remained unbeaten till the conclusion, thanks to two boundaries and five maximums. In reality, the swashbuckler was brilliant throughout the season, as he annihilated several powerful bowlers.
In total, he scored 437 runs in 14 games, with a strike rate of more than 180. Although PBKS did not advance to the last four, Livingstone impressed everyone. Following the game against SRH, Livingstone stated that his performance in IPL 2021 had earned him criticism and that he was glad to prove those critics wrong.
“It was nice. I felt like I was hitting the ball well throughout the tournament. The way we played today was perfect – attacking as well as being smart. It’s been a long two and a half months, it would be good to be away. I am a big believer in matchups and I knew Umran and Washy were my matchups,” Livingstone said.
