The Rajasthan Royals team was trapped in weather turbulence while flying to Kolkata
The Rajasthan Royals completed their IPL 2022 league stage with a five-wicket triumph over the Chennai Super Kings a few days ago, with to Ravichandran Ashwin’s unbroken 40 runs off 23 deliveries. The victory guaranteed them a spot in Qualifier 1 since they had a much higher net run rate than the Lucknow Super Giants. They will face the table-toppers Gujarat Titans in the final on May 24 at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The RR team was on their way to Kolkata from Mumbai for the playoffs when they had an unusual experience caused by natural reasons. In fact, one of the squad members was heard jokingly saying ‘Bhai Land Karao’ and then ‘Land Kara De’ as the mist made its way into the airplane.
What really jumped out here was that the other members, particularly youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal, were having a terrific time. During this period, there were also cries of ‘Halla Bol.’ The video concludes with the plane safely landing in Kolkata and all of the Rajasthan Royals descending.
Heavy thunderstorms have hit Kolkata. Thunderclaps can be heard in the above video, which may have caused some concern among the contingent members. According to reports, “winds blasted at a pace of 60 kmph.” On Saturday, May 21, the rain was preceded by a thick cloud cover over Kolkata.”
Thunderstorms in the ‘City of Joy’ were so severe that the Asian Football Confederation Cup match between ATK Mohun Bagan and Basundhara Kings was delayed for an hour. Bad weather is predicted to play a role in the forthcoming Qualifier 1, and if that happens, GT will proceed to the finals, while RR will have to play the winner of Eliminator in Qualifier 2 on May 27.
