IPL 2022 – 3 players who made an INSANE comeback this season

Cricket is generally described as a game of momentum, which has a significant impact on player performance. When a player’s career is going through a hard patch, he lacks confidence in his talents and fails the majority of the time. However, when he receives support from his captain and team management, and when he performs well, the momentum propels the player to continue his excellent play.

The same thing has happened in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which has both seasoned Indian and foreign players. The participants are hoping to do well in the competition in order to demonstrate their worth on a competitive platform. It also allows certain players who have been snubbed to return to their respective national teams.

In this article, we are going to throw the spotlight on 3 players who have made an INSANE comeback this season.

Number 1. Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha, one of the most successful glovemen, has been a part of the IPL since 2008 and has made significant contributions to the team’s cause. However, he only scored 131 runs in nine matches with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at an average of 14.55 and a strike rate of 93.57.

The Gujarat Titans selected Saha in the 2022 auction (GT). However, the team management did not consider him the first-choice wicket-keeper. He was brought in to replace the injured Australian cricketer Matthew Wade and made an immediate impact.

Until the end of the league stage, the 37-year-old had 312 runs at an average of 39, a strike rate of 124.80, and three fifties. Saha has been a significant component in the team’s success, starting at the top of the lineup and enabling the squad to finish in the top two slots and qualify for the playoffs.

Number 2. David Warner

With nearly 5800 runs, Australian legend David Warner is the greatest overseas run-scorer in the IPL. He was instrumental in the SRH’s championship success in 2016. He was eliminated from the team, though, due to an average performance of 195 runs in eight matches in the previous edition.

He was not retained by the franchise after being shunned by the team. The Delhi Capitals (DC) retained his services, which undoubtedly aided the team’s success in the IPL 2022. Warner, who arrived a little late, has 427 runs in 11 innings at an average of 53.38.

The 35-year-old has five fifties and a top score of 92* in this pursuit. Throughout the season, Warner has served as an anchor for the Capitals, allowing the team to remain in contention for the playoffs.

Number 3. Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav, a powerful wrist-spinner, was discarded from the Indian team owing to poor form and did not have enough opportunities with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the previous two seasons. Yadav only took one wicket in five appearances in the 2021 edition.

Along with his lack of wicket-taking ability, injury fears shattered his confidence. However, he was chosen by DC in the mega auction for IPL 2022. With the team management already promising him a spot in all league matches, the Kanpur-born spinner has focused on his finest qualities.

Yadav has taken 20 wickets in 13 matches at an economy of 8.45, with the best performance of 4/14. He has emerged as Capital’s most successful bowler, and captain Rishabh Pant has employed him in all match circumstances.
