In an emotional farewell speech to the KKR stars, Brendon McCullum signs off
Brendon McCullum, the head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders, gave an emotional farewell address to the team that will be remembered for a long time. McCullum, a former KKR player, became the team’s head coach three years ago, and the team came close to winning the IPL 2021 season by reaching the finals. He also coached the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, although he will have to leave the franchises due to his recent appointment as England’s Test head coach.
McCullum’s first international assignment for England will be against his former country, New Zealand, in a three-match Test series that begins on June 2nd. McCullum has always been recognized for his aggressive captaincy style, as well as his coaching style, and it has reaped rewards on numerous occasions. KKR appeared to be a strong team at the start of the season, but they lost their way in the middle and finished strong in the last three games despite missing out on the playoffs.
Brendon McCullum thanked CEO Venky Mysore for believing in him as a coach and spoke about how much he had learned over the last three years. Despite the fact that the season did not go as planned, he was pleased with the players’ efforts and praised his coaching method, which emphasizes connections and creates confidence rather than focusing solely on the game. He ended by saying that he is always available for help and that he will continue to watch the players and the franchise.
“Firstly, Venky a big thank you to you. Three years ago, he took a chance on me as a coach. Since then, it’s been a pretty steep learning curve and I have enjoyed every moment of it. Even the tough times have been pretty big learning curves,” McCullum told in the video posted by KKR on Youtube.
