Hardik Pandya concedes that Maxwell innings made them feel like they were 10 runs short

Hardik Pandya, the GT captain, explained how Glenn Maxwell’s blitz made them feel like they were 10 runs short of their target as RCB won by eight wickets. While Virat Kohli was a complete shocker for his team in the same match, Maxwell’s execution of the closing task was flawless. After Kohli’s well-made 73 off 54, Maxwell smashed 40* off 18 balls to show his class.

When Maxwell went onto the field, it appeared like he was ravenous for runs, as he began dealing mostly with limits. In his unbroken performance, the Australian hammered five fours and two sixes at a strike rate of more than 220. Before the Australian all-rounder started hitting runs for fun, Pandya said his team felt it had a par score.

“We had just a par score. The ball was stopping here and there and we were happy with 168. We wanted to give Lockie (Ferguson) the opportunity, but the wicket was holding a bit. So, we wanted to go for bowlers who bowled slower ones and took pace off the ball. We pulled things back in the middle but the way Maxwell played, in the end, made us feel we were 10 runs short,” said Hardik Pandya.

After suffering an eight-wicket loss to RCB, Hardik stated that they are on the right track and that all of this knowledge will help them in the playoffs. It should be noted that GT was the first team to qualify for the IPL 2022 playoffs and has already secured a spot in the top two with 20 points. RCB, on the other side, will now be determined by the outcome of the MI vs DC match.
