IPL 2022 – The BEST Chennai Super Kings Playing XI to face the Rajasthan Royals

The 68th match of IPL 2022 will be played on Friday, May 20th, at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. MS Dhoni’s team has had a forgettable campaign, finishing second to last in the points table with only four wins in 13 games.

CSK is coming off a seven-wicket loss to Gujarat Titans, who are now atop the standings. With a win over the Royals, the yellow army will be looking to end the season on a high note. Since Chennai has nothing to play for, they may want to give a few fresh faces a chance.

Let’s talk about the BEST Chennai Super Kings Playing XI to face the Rajasthan Royals.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway open the innings

The starting pairing of Gaikwad and Conway has been one of CSK’s few bright lights this season. Their 182-run opening stand against the Sunrisers is the season’s second-best. They had another century-run partnership versus DC, which led to a 91-run victory.

Gaikwad struggled in the early parts of the event, but he found his stride later on. Conway has appeared in excellent form, scoring 236 runs in his six innings. After a dismal showing against the Titans in the previous match, the Kiwi opener will be eager to add to his score.

Narayan Jagadeesan, Shivam Dube, and MS Dhoni solidify the middle order

CSK’s batting lineup has been bolstered by the addition of Narayan Jagadeeshan. In the last game, he replaced Ambati Rayudu, and the right-hander had a decent effort, scoring an undefeated 39 off 32 balls.

Shivam Dube had a strong start to the season but faded as the tournament continued. One of the best innings of the competition was his 95 runs off 46 balls against RCB. This year, the southpaw has only bowled two overs while playing as an out-and-out batsman in the side. He has 289 runs to his credit, including two half-centuries.

Dhoni’s form has been a source of concern for the Super Kings, with the former Indian captain appearing out of sorts and failing to make an impression. However, after taking over the captaincy from Ravindra Jadeja, the skipper has marshaled the troops well and will be hoping to score some runs in the last game.

Mitchell Santner and Moeen Ali come in as the all-rounders

For the Chennai franchise, Moeen Ali has had a terrible season. The Chennai Super Kings have kept him, but he is yet to make an impact in this year’s league. In nine games, he has 151 runs with the bat and seven wickets with the ball. In the game versus RR, the Englishman will be seeking to add to his tally.

Mitchell Santner has taken three wickets in five games this season. Although the Kiwi has been economical for CSK, they had high expectations for him with both the ball and the bat.

Prashant Solanki, Simarjeet Singh, Matheesha Pathirana, and Mukesh Choudhary form the bowling attack

Prashant Solanki was selected by the Chennai Super Kings for a whopping INR 1.2 crore in the auctions, and the youthful leggie made his IPL debut in the previous game against GT. He went wicketless but only gave up 18 runs in four overs. As a result, he is someone to keep an eye on in the future.

Matheesha Pathirana, who made his CSK debut in the previous game, was impressed with his 2 for 21 in 3.1 overs. The startling likeness of his action to that of Lasith Malinga was the game’s talking point. Shumbhan Gill got caught in front by his slinging action and he struck with his first ball of the event.

For CSK, Mukesh Choudhary has been the season’s best find. The left-arm fast has taken 16 wickets in his maiden season, and his new-ball exploits have wowed many observers. In the IPL next year, his relationship with Deepak Chahar will be exciting to watch.
