Kamlesh Jain of KKR is in line to become the Indian Cricket Team’s head physio

Kamlesh Jain, who is now with the Kolkata Knight Riders, is expected to become the Indian Cricket Team’s head physio. During an interview, Jain reportedly impressed head coach Rahul Dravid, BCCI secretary Jay Shah, and NCA head VVS Laxman. Despite being verbally conveyed to Jain, who is from Chennai, the announcement has yet to be made official.

Nitin Patel, the former head physio of the India Cricket Team, had been in the job since August 2019, but he accepted a position as head of Sports Science and Sports Medicine at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru, creating a vacancy. It should be mentioned that Jain has been with the Kolkata Knight Riders since 2012 and has been named as Patel’s replacement.

Jain worked as an assistant physio under Andrew Leipus at the KKR for seven years before being promoted to head physio in 2020. Yogesh Parmar, who worked alongside Patel on the Indian side, will assist him, and Jain will join the Indian national team after the current IPL 2022 edition after formal approval is received. With numerous series scheduled for India at the same time, multiple physios are required for diverse formats.

Brendon McCullum, the head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders, has also announced that he will leave the franchise at the end of the current season after being appointed as the head coach of the England Test side. He will begin his tenure with the forthcoming three-match home Test series against New Zealand, which begins on June 2nd at Lord’s Stadium.
