IPL 2022 – Ajinkya Rahane backs KKR to make the IPL 2022 playoffs

A significant hamstring injury has forced Ajinkya Rahane to miss the rest of the IPL 2022. Rahane had a great start to the season and played some solid innings for KKR, but his form dipped as the team progressed through the competition.

Rahane had a poor IPL season this time, scoring only 133 runs at an average of 19.00 in seven games, with a maximum score of 44. Meanwhile, KKR is now sixth in the points standings with 12 points and remains in playoff contention. Their destiny will be decided in their final game on May 18 against the Lucknow Super Giants.

Rahane joined the squad members in the pool stadium after head coach Brendon McCullum gave the announcement to them. He thanked the team’s management for bringing him on board and stated that he hopes to return better next year.

“I really enjoyed my time, on and off the field with everyone. (I) Learned a lot as a cricketer about life, about everything. Just want to thank all the players, support staff, Venky Sir, and management people for all your help and support. I’ll definitely come back stronger next year. And I’m sure we will do well as a team in the next game, and hopefully, we’ll go to Kolkata and the playoffs,” Rahane said in the video.

To keep their playoff hopes alive, KKR must defeat LSG by a large margin and then hope that other outcomes go their way. Seven teams are vying for one of the three remaining qualifying slots.
