AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle have been welcomed into the RCB’s newly established Hall of Fame

AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle, two of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCBmost )’s faithful followers, were recently admitted into the RCB’s newly-established Hall of Fame. Both De Villiers and Universe Boss were joined by video conferencing by their old RCB teammates and were appropriately acknowledged for their tremendous efforts over the years.

The entire Red Army can be seen assembled in the team’s common area for the Hall of Fame event in a video posted on the RCB’s official Twitter feed. Before the announcements, former RCB captain Virat Kohli and the team’s Director of Cricket, Mike Hesson, delivered addresses. The Stalwarts were then presented with gold-plated keepsakes bearing their names and jersey numbers.

“To the RCB boys sitting there, what an amazing privilege. I am quite emotional, to be honest. I have been a little bit out of cricket as you know and just watching you boys on TV just last while, really gets me excited about things that are coming this season. Virat, thanks for the kind words. Mike, Nikhil, and everyone from the franchise who set this up. It’s really special,” said AB de Villiers.

AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle are two of the most renowned players in Indian Premier League history (IPL). In terms of numbers, De Villiers played 184 IPL matches and scored 5162 runs. Three hundred and forty half-centuries were hit by the right-handed batter. Gayle, on the other hand, has appeared in 142 IPL matches and scored 4965 runs at an average of nearly 40. Six hundred and thirty-five runs have been scored by the left-handed batter.
