Ajinkya Rahane of KKR has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury
The senior batter Ajinkya Rahane is poised to depart the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bio-bubble after suffering an injury during his team’s previous game, against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 14 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune (Saturday).
According to reports, the right-handed hitter would be sent to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for four weeks of rehabilitation. During the game against the SRH, the right-handed batter appeared to be in pain when batting during the powerplay overs. Despite this, he continued to bat and scored 28 runs off 24 balls, including three massive sixes.
According to reports, the senior Indian batter has a hamstring injury that will prevent him from participating in the India tour of England, which is set to begin in July. Apart from three T20Is and three One Day Internationals, the Indian team will face the Three Lions in one postponed Test match. The tour will begin on July 1 and conclude on July 17 at the Emirates Old Trafford stadium in Manchester (Sunday).
Returning to the KKR campaign in IPL 2022, the two-time winners are currently sixth in the points table and will be greatly missed by injured Rahane. In the absence of the senior hitter, KKR could field West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine or Nitish Rana as the second opener, with left-handed batter Venkatesh Iyer.
The Men in Purple will now face the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their last IPL 2022 group stage encounter. On May 18, the match will be held at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai (Wednesday). In terms of the LSG, the newcomers have also lost their previous match against the Rajasthan Royals and are desperate for a victory.
