IPL 2022 – 3 Players who made an unexpected debut this season

The Indian Premier League now has ten clubs competing for the coveted title. With so many fresh faces entering the fray, the 2022 season provided an excellent opportunity for any player to make his impact. Even though prominent teams such as Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians were eliminated from the tournament, they did a good job of giving rookie players more opportunities.

Furthermore, with so many organizations giving chances to domestic players, the 2017 IPL was all about exposure. However, a few players made their debuts this year. They were encouraged by the franchise to demonstrate their abilities, and they were successful. In this article, we are going to talk about 3 players who were essentially squad players but made an unexpected debut this season.

Number 1. Kumar Kartikeya – Mumbai Indians

Even while everyone expected Tilak Verma to be a regular in this year’s MI XI, few expected Kumar Kartikeya to break onto the major stage. The teenager has come a long way to join the MI team.

Kartikeya has played 12 T20 matches and has an economy rate of 6.17 in the shortest version of the game. The spinner prefers to keep the ball tight so that the bowlers on the other end can take their opportunities. He has been a tremendous help to Madhya Pradesh in the domestic cricket circuit.

This year, he made his debut against the Rajasthan Royals at the DY Patil Sports Academy. Kumar has taken five wickets in his four games so far. In addition, he has an excellent economy rate of 7.85 runs per over.

Number 2. Kuldeep Sen – Rajasthan Royals

Kuldeep Sen is a fast bowler who often exceeds the 145 kmph mark. He’s been one of the season’s best finds. Despite leaking runs in death overs, he will undoubtedly improve with experience.

Sen made his IPL debut at the Wankhede Stadium against the Lucknow Super Giants. He has taken eight wickets in seven games this year. His economic rate, which is currently 9.42, has the potential to improve.

Sen has played 25 games on the domestic circuit and taken 20 wickets in the shortest format. Furthermore, he has a superior domestic economy (8.56) than in the IPL. It will be fascinating to see how the RR administration treats him the following season.

Number 3. Mukesh Choudhary – Chennai Super Kings

Deepak Chahar, the face of CSK’s bowling squad, got hurt, shocking the team’s management. Later, it was revealed that he will not be available for the reigning champions this season. MS Dhoni, on the other hand, had a backup in Mukesh Choudhary.

Choudhary has a mediocre economy rate of 9.22 in IPL 2022, but his wicket total is impressive. The bowler has taken 16 wickets in 11 IPL games. He was in full flow against MI in both games.

He can make a powerful bowling attack with Deepak Chahar. Despite having a disastrous IPL season this year, CSK has found its men for the coming season. Choudhary’s ability to swing it both ways would pose a challenge to any top-tier batsmen.
