CSK and GT players wear black armbands in memory of Andrew Symonds
The Chennai Super Kings take on the Gujarat Titans in the 62nd match of the IPL 2022, which is being held at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The defending champions have already been eliminated from the playoff race, while the newcomers were the first team to qualify for the playoffs by winning nine games and accruing 18 points to take the lead.
In the midst of the frenzy, the two teams’ players are wearing black armbands in honor of late Australian legend Andrew Symonds. Symonds, one of the greatest cricketers in history, died in a horrific vehicle accident late Saturday night. The two-time World Cup winner, who was survived by his wife and two children, died at the age of 46, and the cricketing world was stunned.
He was one of the greatest all-rounders the Australian squad had ever seen. During his playing days, he was a key player for the squad in all categories and wreaked havoc on the field with his batting ability.
Symonds made his debut in 1998 and quickly established himself as a fixture in the team due to his all-around abilities. During his career, he appeared in 26 Test matches, 198 ODIs, and 14 T20Is, taking 165 wickets and scoring 6887 international runs. He was a key member of Australia’s world cup-winning teams in 2003 and 2007.
