IPL 2022 – The BEST Sunrisers Hyderabad Playing XI to face the Kolkata Knight Riders

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have lost four consecutive matches and are presently eighth in the IPL 2022 points standings with five victories. To secure a playoff spot, they must win their remaining games by a large margin. They were defeated by the Royal Challengers Bangalore by a score of 67 runs in their most recent league match (RCB).

The team’s performances in both departments of the game were subpar, paving the path for the unfavorable outcome. At MCA Stadium in Pune, they will face the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their next league encounter. If Washington Sundar and T. Natarajan are deemed fit for the match, they will likely replace Jagadeesha Suchith and Fazalhaq Farooqi, else the team will likely play with the same lineup.

The Sunrisers have a mathematical chance of getting into the playoffs and the remaining games are must-wins. Keeping this in mind, here is the BEST Sunrisers Hyderabad Playing XI to face the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson open the innings

The openers were essential in the squad gaining momentum in the opening half of the tournament. However, their form has been a source of concern, as the team is under pressure and unable to build partnerships in powerplay overs, preventing them from getting off to a good start.

Abhishek Sharma, a rookie, leads the team in run-scoring with 331 runs at an average of 30.09. His latest scores, though, are 0, 7, and 39, and he must recover his form in order to assist the squad in achieving critical wins.

Captain Kane Williamson, on the other hand, has been out of form so far in the tournament, save for a shaky 57 in one of the games. He has failed to convert most of his starts into big ones and has only 199 runs at a strike rate of 96.13.

Nicholas Pooran, Rahul Tripathi, and Aiden Markram solidify the middle order

Throughout the tournament, the team’s middle-order has been outstanding. Their contributions have helped the Sunrisers rebound from a shaky start on several occasions and have instilled confidence in the entire squad. Rahul Tripathi, who bats third, has 308 runs in 11 innings with a strike rate of 164.70. He scored 58 points from 37 balls in the team’s most recent league play.

Nicholas Pooran, a Caribbean batter, has been in excellent form this season and is striking the ball cleanly. Pooran has 261 runs in 11 innings pitched with a strike rate of 147.45. His highest score was 64* against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Aiden Markram, another Proteas hitter, has stitched key partnerships to drive the team through the middle overs and offer a late flourish in the death overs. He has totaled 326 runs at an average of 65.20. He would, however, try to better his performance, as his previous knock netted him only 21 from 27 balls.

Jagadeesha Suchith and Shashank Singh are the all-rounder duo

This department has been relatively unreliable for the club, and the team has also tried new players. Washington Sundar, the all-rounder, has missed nearly half of the matches owing to a hand ailment. Sundar is anticipated to join the team in this game only if he is deemed fit to participate; otherwise, Jagadeesha Suchith may continue to play.

Shashank Singh has not contributed to the club since a fantastic performance of 25* from six balls against the Gujarat Titans, and he may try to recapture his form for the forthcoming matches. He has 58 runs with an average of 19.33.

Suchith, a left-arm spinner, and the batter has clearly been a utility player over the years but has not received enough opportunities. In the last game, he concluded with statistics of 30/2 from four overs, including the crucial wicket of Virat Kohli.

Kartik Tyagi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Umran Malik form the bowling attack

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umran Malik are the two players who have been confirmed to be in the playing XI. Kumar, the seasoned bowler, has aided the squad in restricting runs at all stages of the innings. The 32-year-old has only 10 wickets in 11 innings and a 7.30 economy rate.

Umran Malik, the teenage speedster, has been fantastic with his pace this season and has improved as the matches have proceeded. He has taken 15 wickets at an economy rate of 9.10 in 11 matches. Malik, on the other hand, has been quite costly in the last three matches and will need to improve his performance going forward.

T. Natarajan, the left-arm pacer, could return to the squad if found fit. It would be intriguing to watch who will make room for the pacer, whether it is Kartik Tyagi or Fazalhaq Farooqi. Tyagi and Farooqi both returned 40+ runs from their four overs in the previous encounter, although the former also took one wicket.
