Virat Kohli will be rested for the T20I series against South Africa

Virat Kohli, who has been struggling, is expected to be rested for the five-match T20I series against South Africa, which will begin on June 9 following the completion of the IPL 2022. Kohli would be expected to fire himself up during this vacation in order to restore his form in the game before India’s visit of England.

The national selection committee, chaired by Chetan Sharma, is expected to enable India’s No. 1 batter to rest after extensive time in the bio-bubble. Other players of the Indian squad, in addition to Kohli, are expected to be rested for the South Africa series.

Kohli has been having a difficult time in his career and has struggled in the ongoing IPL. Even after relinquishing captaincy, the senior pro has yet to find his mojo. Cricket legends such as Ravi Shastri and Michael Vaughan have expressed concern about Kohli’s form, urging that the player take a sabbatical to clear his mind.

Not just Kohli, but Indian captain Rohit Sharma also failed to impress while guiding the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

Meanwhile, if the rumor is correct, the Indian squad would see a slew of new faces get a chance to wear the national uniform. The BCCI is yet to make an official announcement on the squad, but it is thought that IPL talents Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh have piqued the selectors’ interest.
