Ravi Ashwin’s distinctive low batting posture versus DC has become the buzz of the town
The 58th match of the IPL 2022 between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals proved to be pretty interesting for a variety of reasons. However, if there was one thing that got the internet buzzing, it was Ravi Ashwin’s low, rather amusing stance while facing spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the game.
While the Royals batted first, they lost ace batsman Jos Buttler early on, and to everyone’s astonishment, Ravi Ashwin went down the crease. However, Ashwin did not disappoint, smashing his maiden T20 fifty while collecting a crucial 50 off 38 balls. When he faced Kuldeep, he virtually took a sitting stance in order to smack the spinner for a maximum.
The Royals scored 160 runs on the board thanks to Ashwin’s 50 and Devdutt Padikkal’s 48. After the all-fifty, rounder’s he was undone by Mitchell Marsh, who emerged as the game’s hero while displaying excellence in both areas. None of the other RR batters shone on this occasion, and when DC came to chase the target, Marsh and Warner did all of the work with ease.
Marsh hit an incredible 89 off 62 balls, while Warner chipped in with an unbeaten fifty as DC triumphed by eight wickets with 11 balls to spare. With their sixth win of the season, the Capitals have kept their playoff chances alive, and with the race for the next round heating up in the middle, it remains to be seen how far DC can go. In terms of the IPL 2022 points standings, DC is now in fifth place, while RR is in third place following the latest game.
