Mitchell Marsh admits that the powerplay innings against RR was the toughest in his T20 career

Mitchell Marsh’s all-around excellence was on display in the last IPL 2022 match between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals. First, he grabbed two wickets when RR was put in to bat first, then he followed that up with a magnificent 89 off 62 while chasing with David Warner. Marsh discussed his innings and how he wanted to regain his form after being injured and going through COVID-19 trauma.

The Australian also mentioned that he hasn’t played much in the last three to four months and was looking for a big inning from his bat. He thought the powerplay against RR was one of the more difficult ones he’d been put through thus far. Marsh explained how a team’s struggle doubles if they lose two or three wickets in the powerplay.

It should be mentioned that DC started slowly and lost opener Srikar Bharat for a duck, but what followed was truly amazing. While Marsh batted brilliantly for 89 runs, he received the best support from David Warner, who hammered an unbroken fifty to help the team’s cause.

“If you look at both teams in the powerplay tonight, the ball was swinging around, it was nipping around. It was probably one of the tougher powerplays that I’ve batted in since I started playing T20 cricket. We just had to get through it unscathed. If you’re 2-3 down in the powerplay the game gets really hard, so we assessed that we have to cut down on our runs to ensure we’re just one down at the end of the powerplay,” said Marsh.
