Suryakumar Yadav will be unavailable for four weeks and is doubtful for the South Africa series
Suryakumar Yadav of the Mumbai Indians is expected to be out for four weeks after suffering a forearm injury during his IPL 2022 stint. The 31-year-old is an important component in the Mumbai Indians’ batting order, but he will miss the rest of the season after being hit on the left arm while running during MI’s match against Gujarat Titans on May 6.
Suryakumar awoke with a swollen arm, preventing him from playing against the Kolkata Knight Riders on May 9. Suryakumar is also expected to miss a portion of the five-match T20I series against South Africa, according to BCCI sources. The right-hander has emerged as one of India’s greatest T20I players at the moment, and his absence from the squad for the South Africa series will be felt greatly.
Suryakumar’s medical condition was recently announced by the Mumbai Indians, who stated that he will be out for the rest of the season. Suryakumar, on the other hand, would not report to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru upon the discovery of his injury, which is required by BCCI norms for annual contracted players.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians are already out of contention for the IPL 2022 playoffs and will be aiming to test their bench strength in the absence of Suryakumar Yadav. This season, the Mumbaikar scored 303 runs in eight games and made several vital cameos in the middle order. He is undoubtedly a contender for India’s T20 World Cup 2022 roster, and it will be critical for him to get some playing time before the tournament.
