Faf du Plessis pondered retiring in order to hasten Dinesh Karthik’s arrival
Dinesh Karthik is in stunning form in the present Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, winning acclaim from all quarters. Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers were victims of Karthik’s prowess on Sunday (May 8), as the dasher put on a big-hitting performance in the final overs. The 36-year-old blasted an undefeated 30 off eight deliveries as Royal Challengers Bangalore reached 192/3 in their allotted 20 overs, with one four and four sixes.
His efforts were rewarded as RCB won by an impressive 67-run margin. Following the game, RCB captain Faf du Plessis heaped accolades on Karthik for yet another brilliant performance. Because of the wicketkeeper’s brilliance this season, Du Plessis pondered retiring out to speed up the dasher’s entrance in the middle. In the post-match interview, the former South African captain confirmed as much.
It should be highlighted that Du Plessis had a fantastic day, scoring a magnificent half-century on a difficult wicket. The daring opener hit 73 off 50 deliveries and returned undefeated. Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga was the standout performer in the bowling department, recording his first five-wicket haul in the IPL.
Meanwhile, this was RCB’s seventh win in 12 games, and a win in the next two would qualify them for the IPL 2022 playoffs. As a result, Karthik, Du Plessis, and others want to extend their amazing run.
