IPL 2022 – 5 Players who have been completely backed by their skipper

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 enters its final rounds, the race for playoff positions heats up. Teams that have remained with the same lineup have reaped the benefits in terms of league ranking. Despite a handful of poor performances, the top-placed franchises have stuck with their stars. The IPL is one of the most-watched athletic events in the world, and as such, the pressure to perform is enormous.

Given the popularity of IPL, it is expected that a few young people take their time adjusting to their new surroundings. The captain and team management play an important role in the development of such talents, providing them with ample opportunities to demonstrate their true abilities. In this piece, we will look at five players who have received complete backing from their captain.

Number 1. Nitish Rana – Kolkata Knight Riders

Nitish Rana is one guy that has a lot of promise but hasn’t been able to put it all together. The left-handed batsman had a slow start in the IPL, underperforming in the first few games. The KKR management, on the other hand, backed their middle-order batsman, which paid off handsomely for the franchise.

The Delhi cricketer hit an unbeaten 48-run knock against the Rajasthan Royals to help his team cross the finish line. Furthermore, he has two half-centuries in his last five appearances. The former Mumbai Indians hitter will seek to capitalize on his recent success and help his team make the playoffs. Kolkata has won four of their ten games, and every game from here on will feel like a cup final.

He was the leading run-scorer for his team against the Delhi Capitals, striking 57 runs off just 34 balls to help KKR record a competitive total on the board. The left-handed hitter scored 54 runs off 36 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad, his first half-century of the season.

Number 2. Mukesh Choudhary – Chennai Super Kings

Mukesh Choudhary has been one of the tournament’s top bowlers thus far. The 25-year-old bowler made his IPL debut this season and has 11 scalps in eight outings at an average of little more than 25. The left-arm bowler is Chennai Super Kings’ second-highest wicket-taker this season and has done a terrific job opening the bowling with the new ball.

Mukesh Choudhary’s success can be attributed in part to the Chennai management’s belief in his ability, despite a few disappointing outings. After being thrashed by the likes of Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants, the 25-year-fortunes old’s turned around against Mumbai Indians.

The left-arm bowler ripped through the MI top order in his first two overs, taking three wickets. Mukesh Choudhary has filled the vacuum left by Deepak Chahar, an Indian bowler who has missed the majority of the season due to injury. He bowled two or three overs at the top for the reigning champs and also contributed during the slog overs.

Number 3. Rovman Powell – Delhi Capitals

Rovman Powell possesses exceptional six-hitting talents, but he was unable to get going in the first four games. The West Indian was dismissed for a pair of ducks, and it appeared that he would be dropped once Mitchell Marsh was cleared to play.

Powell eventually reached his stride against the Rajasthan Royals, scoring 36 runs off 15 balls despite his team losing the match. He followed it up with a calm knock against the Kolkata Knight Riders, where he helped his team cross the finish line. Earlier this week, the West Indian hitter scored 35 runs off 21 balls against the Lucknow Super Giants. Rishabh Pant has backed the middle-order batter to finish the job for his team, and he has firmly established himself in the IPL 2022.

The Delhi Capitals are now in trouble, having won only four of their nine games. If Delhi wants to make the playoffs, they must win at least four of their remaining games. As a result, it is critical that their West Indian powerhouse, Rovman Powell, retains his current form.

Number 4. Riyan Parag – Rajasthan Royals

Riyan Parag’s performances in the IPL 2019 drew the attention of the cricketing community. However, he has failed to live up to his expectations in the last two seasons. The IPL 2022 season did not begin well for the teenager, who had little time to settle into the middle given the stage of the innings at which he walked into bat.

Sanju Samson, on the other hand, remained by the 20-year-side old’s and believed in his talents to serve as the Royals’ finisher. Riyan Parag eventually had his chance to shine against Bangalore, when he hit an unbroken 56-run knock-off 31 balls, leading his team to a comfortable 29-run victory. He was eventually named player of the match for his crucial performance with the bat.

It may be argued that Riyan Parag receives far too much criticism, given that he rarely has a chance to show himself with the bat. He hit 19 runs off 12 balls against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous game, including two maximums and one boundary.

Number 5. Alzarri Joseph – Gujarat Titans

The Gujarat Titans have a plethora of match-winners on their roster. Hardik Pandya has emerged as one of the tournament’s best captains, leading the Titans to the top of the points table. The Indian all-rounder has supported a number of players, including Alzarri Joseph. The West Indian pacer made his debut only a few weeks ago but has already established himself as a regular.

Despite not being particularly economical with the ball, Joseph has taken a wicket in practically every game he has played to date. The former Mumbai Indians pacer has taken wickets at critical stages of the game, which has played a role in determining the match’s outcome.

Because the Gujarat Titans have a powerful bowling attack, Hardik Pandya is expected to continue supporting the West Indian pacer. Furthermore, due to a previous groin injury, the skipper has avoided bowling in the last several games. As a result, the presence of Alzarri Joseph rather than a batter suddenly makes more sense.
