Mahela Jayawardene discusses Arjun Tendulkar’s chances of making his IPL debut

After eight consecutive losses, the Mumbai Indians became the first club to be eliminated from the IPL 2022. Despite this, they went on to defeat the Rajasthan Royals last week, adding the first points to their account.

Kumar Kartikeya made his debut this season and demonstrated his talent with the ball. Mahela Jayawardene, the head coach of the five-time champions, has now intimated that another player may make his debut for the club. Arjun Tendulkar is the subject of the debate.

“Well, I think everyone in the squad is an option. We will see how things go. It is about match-ups and how we can win the matches and our priority is to make sure that we get the right match-ups”, said Jayawardene during a media conference.

Arjun was snatched up by the five-time champions for INR 30 lakh at the two-day big auction in February. So far, he’s been warming the bench. Meanwhile, nothing has gone well for the Mumbai Indians this season. Their hitters and bowlers have been inconsistent, and when combined with inexperience in the middle order, the squad has failed to dominate this time around. MI experimented with several team combinations, but no results were obtained.

MI would now like to finish its campaign on a good note. On May 6, they will meet the table-toppers Gujarat Titans in Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium.
