MS Dhoni takes over as CSK captain after Ravindra Jadeja resigns

MS Dhoni has been named captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the second time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Ravindra Jadeja took over from him ahead of this year’s IPL. However, the all-rounder has decided to hand over the captaincy to Dhoni once more in the middle of the season.

The four-time winners’ official website confirmed the news as well, and it has been reported that Dhoni has decided to retake command of the team in their best interests of the team. CSK is presently ninth in the points table with six losses in eight games and will need to win all of their remaining games to qualify for the playoffs. Meanwhile, Jadeja has made the decision to concentrate and focus on his game right now.

MS Dhoni has captained CSK in 213 matches and has won six titles with the Men in Yellow, four IPL trophies, and two Champions League T20s. During this time, he has won 130 games and lost 81, and it remains to be seen whether the team’s fortunes will change with the change in leadership.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja’s batting suffered as a result of his brief captaincy. So far this season, he has only scored 112 runs in eight matches, with an average of 22.41 and a strike rate of 121.73. His bowling has also not played a significant role in the IPL 2022 thus far, with the left-arm spinner picking up only five wickets at an economy rate of over eight.
