IPL 2022 – The BEST Lucknow Super Giants Playing XI to face the Punjab Kings

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will face the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their next Indian Premier League (IPL) group stage match on April 29 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Mumbai (Friday). It will be an interesting match between two clubs that have some powerful batters on their roster.

LSG is presently fourth in the points table, having won five of its eight games. So far, the newcomers have defeated the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Mumbai Indians (MI). However, they were defeated by the Gujarat Titans (GT), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

LSG will be riding high on confidence after defeating MI for the second time and will seek to replicate their performance in the following match against PBKS. LSG bowler Avesh Khan, who missed the previous match due to a niggle, may be able to make a comeback provided he is totally fit.

Let’s take a look at the BEST Lucknow Super Giants Playing XI to face the Punjab Kings.

KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock to continue opening the innings

KL is the skipper. Rahul has been in fantastic form this tournament, scoring two centuries. In the previous match, the right-handed batsman hit his last century against the five-time champions. Rahul has 368 runs at an average of 61.33 and will seek to maintain his fine form with the bat.

Quinton de Kock, Rahul’s partner, has been inconsistent throughout the competition. In eight matches, the wicketkeeper-batter has scored 225 runs, including two half-centuries, with his top score of 80. The left-handed batter has the experience and will want to score more runs for his new team.

Manish Pandey, Ayush Badoni, and Deepak Hooda solidify the middle order

The LSG middle-order has struggled in the competition. Manish Pandey, an Indian hitter, has received some starts but has yet to convert them. The right-handed batter batted only 88 times in six games, with a high of 38. Similarly, Ayush Badoni has struggled to get going in recent bouts despite putting in some crucial efforts early on.

With the exception of his previous appearance, hitter Deepak Hooda has been impressive this season, scoring 193 runs at a strike rate close to 130 and featuring a pair of half-centuries. The right-handed batter will look to maintain his solid form with the bat while also qualifying for the ICC T20 World Cup later this year.

Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, and Jason Holder form the all-rounders

Marcus Stoinis of Australia has not taken many wickets in the competition, but he has played some brilliant runs with the bat. However, the right-handed batter failed to open his account in the previous match against MI and will be looking to make a great return against the PBKS.

Krunal Pandya, on the other hand, has 112 runs to his name, including three not-outs, and has already taken seven wickets. The 31-year-old has been a quiet performer for his team and will be seeking to take some key wickets against the Kings’ strong-looking batting line-up. Similarly, West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder has failed to score runs while bowling some tight lines.

Dushmantha Chameera, Avesh Khan, and Ravi Bishnoi complete the bowling attack

Despite not taking any wickets, pacer Dushmantha Chameera was an important bowler for Lucknow in their last game against MI, taking 0/14 in his four-over quota. With the new ball in hand and his well-hidden yorkers, the right-arm pacer may frighten the opposition. Similarly, Mohsin Khan, who took over for his teammate Avesh Khan, was impressed.

The 23-year-old took Dewald Brevis’ wicket and allowed only 27 runs in his four-over quota. However, if Avesh Khan is a match fit, he will have to make way for him. Ravi Bishnoi, an Indian spinner, had only one wicket in his previous encounter and let up 28 runs in three overs. The teenager, who has six wickets so far, would be hoping to add to his score against PBKS.
