IPL 2022 – The BEST Delhi Capitals Playing XI to face the Kolkata Knight Riders

The Delhi Capitals (DC), one of the most experienced teams on paper, have underperformed in the IPL 2022, with only three wins in seven league matches. Although the openers have performed admirably, the squad is trying to find the correct contribution from the middle order, as well as the bowlers’ expensive economy. To keep their playoff aspirations alive, the squad will undoubtedly require consistent performances from their key players.

In their most recent match, they were defeated by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 15 runs, despite an average effort by their bowling team, which conceded 200+ runs. DC will face the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their next league match, with the goal of regaining their place in the tournament. The team is likely to contain Chetan Sakariya and KS Bharat in the playing XI, both of whom performed well in the last edition.

Let’s take a look at the BEST Delhi Capitals Playing XI to face the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Prithvi Shaw and David Warner form the opening pair

The performance of the starting pair of Prithvi Shaw and David Warner has been the most encouraging aspect of the Capitals’ season. Following Warner’s comeback, both players have formed critical partnerships to assist the club in getting off to a strong start in the prior games.

Shaw’s ability to pierce the gaps in powerplay overs has once again been spectacular this season. He has 254 runs in seven innings with a strike rate of 164.94 and a best score of 61. In the most recent match, he produced 37 off 27 balls, laying the groundwork for the Capitals as they chased a gigantic mark of 223.

Warner, Australia’s top-order batter, arrived late but quickly caught up with his opening partner, Shaw. He has 219 runs in five innings pitched at a strike rate of 157.55. In his most recent appearance against the Royals, he scored 28 points in 14 balls.

Rishabh Pant, Rovman Powell and KS Bharat solidify the middle order

Following a solid start by the openers, the middle order will be critical in driving the team to a high score. Rishabh Pant, the skipper, has scored 188 runs in seven matches with a strike rate of 154.10, but he has not looked like his natural self. In some cases, he has handed away his wicket out of irritation at not being able to score runs at a rapid pace. Pant contributed 44 off 24 balls in the previous game and will now like to turn his starts into huge ones in the next games.

Rovman Powell, a Caribbean middle-order hitter, was offered a contract with DC in 2022 following his outstanding performance in the series against England. Despite this, he hasn’t made much of an impact, scoring only 67 runs in seven innings. In the last game against the Rajasthan Royals, he smashed 36 off 15 balls, including three straight sixes, which will keep him motivated ahead of the match.

KS Bharat, the RCB’s backup wicket-keeper, was impressive in the IPL 2021, scoring 191 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 122.43. He can replace Sarfaraz Khan in the playing XI due to the latter’s poor performance in the tournament and the team’s desperate need for a solid batter in the middle-order.

Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur provide all-rounder support

The team’s all-rounders have performed admirably, but they have yet to reach their peak. Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, and Shardul Thakur all had strong performances in the tournament opener against Mumbai Indians (MI), but they have all faded since then, with the exception of Yadav.

In the current season, Yadav has scored 112 runs and taken four wickets. With an economy rate of 7.38, he has been exceptionally impressive in the majority of the encounters. He scored 37 off 24 balls in the last game against the Royals, which significantly helped the club come closer to the opposition’s score.

The other two, on the other hand, have been underwhelming in their performances. Thakur has 80 runs and four wickets in seven outings, while Patel has 79 runs and three wickets. Both players must bring their A-game in order to lead the squad to victory in this match.

Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman and Chetan Sakariya complete the bowling attack

The DC bowlers have gone for a lot of runs this season, but they have had a few positives in the form of Kuldeep Yadav and Mustafizur Rahman. Kuldeep has taken 13 wickets in seven games and restored his form, but he is conceding runs at an economy rate of 8.48, which is a concern for the club.

Rahman, a Bangladeshi pacer, has appeared in six matches and has five wickets at an economy of 7.88. He did, however, end with stats of 43/1 in the last game and has room for development.

The Royals tonked left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed in the previous game, and he could make way for the brilliant youngster Chetan Sakariya. Last season, the left-arm bowler appeared in 14 games for the Royals, taking 16 wickets. Sakariya’s variations could make him an important bowler in the second half of the season.
