IPL 2022 – The BEST Punjab Kings Playing XI to face the Chennai Super Kings

Punjab Kings (PBKS) will face defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their next group round match on April 25 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium (Monday).

It’s worth noting that PBKS is now ranked seventh in the points standings with three victories in seven matches. The Kings were defeated by the Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, and Kolkata Knight Riders. They have, however, defeated the five-time champions Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Chennai Super Kings.

Following their defeat against DC, PBKS may wish to replace English batter Jonny Bairstow with Sri Lanka’s hard-hitting Bhanuka Rajapaksa. Mayank Agarwal, the skipper, will also want to contribute with the bat.

In this article, we are going to talk about the BEST Punjab Kings Playing XI to face the Chennai Super Kings.

Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan continue to open the innings

Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan form one of the most seasoned opening combinations in the IPL. So far in IPL 2022, both Indian batsmen haven’t shown their true colors. They hope to change that in their next match against CSK.

In the IPL, Mayank has scored 118 runs in six matches. Dhawan, on the other hand, has amassed 214 runs in seven innings, including a 70 against MI. However, in his previous outing, the left-handed batter managed only nine runs.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Jitesh Sharma and Shahrukh Khan add strength to the middle order

Jonny Bairstow of England has struggled to get going in recent matches and could make place for Sri Lankan aggressive batsman Bhunuka Rajapaksa in the playing XI. Shahrukh has failed to impress thus far in this round, scoring just 98 runs in seven innings. The 26-year-old will be hoping for a much better performance against the reigning champions in the forthcoming fixture.

Jitesh Sharma has made an impression in his debut season. The right-handed batter has accumulated 122 runs in five innings while striking out at an outstanding rate. Sharma also produced a great 32-ball innings against DC and will be looking to maintain his success.

Liam Livingstone adds the all-rounder flavour

Despite his absence from the previous encounter, Liam Livingstone has been a standout player for PBKS. England’s batter has scored runs at a breakneck clip and will look to emulate that feat against CSK.

The right-handed batter has driven in 226 runs in seven innings while striking out at a rate near 180, justifying his high price tag. Livingstone recently scored an amazing 60-run knock against the Orange Army, assisting his side in amassing a competitive total of 151 runs in the allocated 20 overs.

Kagiso Rabada, Nathan Ellis, Rahul Chahar, Vaibhav Arora and Arshdeep Singh form the bowling order

Vaibhav Arora, the teenager, has bowled well but has been fairly pricey in the last few games. In the last encounter, the right-arm pacer handed up 31 runs in two overs against DC. Similarly, Arshdeep Singh, the left-arm pacer, has not been at his best. In seven outings this season, he has only two wickets.

Kagiso Rabada of South Africa and Rahul Chahar of India have been the Kings’ most impressive players thus far. Rabada has seven wickets in seven matches so far, while Chahar has ten wickets in seven matches. Nathan Ellis, the Australian bowler who was fairly frugal in the previous encounter, conceding only 15 runs in two overs, is also expected to keep his place in the starting XI.
