IPL 2022 – The BEST Royal Challengers Bangalore Playing XI to face the Sunrisers Hyderabad
On April 23, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will face the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Both teams will be brimming with confidence going into this match. The Royal Challengers Bangalore come into this match on the back of an 18-run victory over the Lucknow Super Giants in their previous match. They’ll be hoping to keep the momentum going against SRH, who have won four of their last five games.
While Bangalore defeated LSG a few days ago, they are unlikely to make any changes to their starting XI and will instead stick with the same winning combination. With the top-order, particularly skipper Faf du Plessis, looking in good form and bowlers putting in consistent performances, RCB will not be concerned about getting their combination right against Hyderabad in the first place.
Let’s take a look at the BEST Royal Challengers Bangalore Playing XI to face the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat continue to open the innings
When his team appeared to be down and out at 62/4, captain Faf du Plessis roared back to form with a match-winning knock of 96 runs from 64 deliveries. The Proteas sensation played a key role in guiding Bangalore to a competitive total of 181/6, for which he was named Player of the Match.
Anuj Rawat has struggled in the last two matches, scoring only four runs, including a golden duck. In the next game, the promising batter will be expected to deliver against a quality Hyderabad bowling attack. The Royals would like their openers to put on a show to relieve some of the pressure on the middle order batters.
Virat Kohli, Suyash Prabhudessai, Shahbaz Ahmed and Dinesh Karthik stabilise the middle order
Things only got worse for Virat Kohli, who bagged a golden duck in the previous match, after he was run out cheaply against the Delhi Capitals. The batting legend has yet to find form, with only a couple of 40-plus scores to his name this season. He’d be eager to get his bat to do the talking sooner rather than later.
Suyash Prabudessai, a newcomer, has not made a good first impression in the middle order, which he hopes to change against LSG by working in tandem with the seasoned performers. He has only fetched 18 runs in his last two outings and will be eager to put on a better performance to keep his place in the playing XI.
So far this season, Shahbaz Ahmed has been one of RCB’s standout middle-order performers. He has impressed with his scoring abilities, amassing 171 runs from seven appearances, and the majority of his knocks have also proven to be impactful.
Dinesh Karthik has been the Bengaluru-based franchise’s saviour, appearing in six of the seven games. The veteran stumper has 210 runs, including a half-century, with an average of 210 and a strike rate of 205.88. The 36-year-old wicket-keeper batter hopes to keep the onslaught going as he pursues a “bigger goal” of representing India in the T20 World Cup.
Glenn Maxwell and Wanindu Hasaranga come in as the all-rounders
Glenn Maxwell has 112 runs, including a half-century, in four IPL 2022 appearances, with his highest score being 55 against the Delhi Capitals. With the ball in hand, he has only managed one scalp. With both bat and ball in hand, a lot will be expected of the Australian all-rounder going forward.
Wanindu Hasaranga, on the other hand, may not have made much of an impression with the bat, but he certainly made the ball do the talking. The Islander has done an outstanding job, with 11 scalps from seven appearances at an economy rate of 8.60.
Harshal Patel, Josh Hazlewood and Mohammed Siraj form the bowling attack
Harshal Patel, a medium-pacer, was instrumental in halting LSG’s momentum during their difficult run chase, taking two crucial wickets in KL Rahul and Jason Holder. When RCB takes on SRH, expect another strong performance from the Purple Cap winner from last season.
Josh Hazlewood appears to be getting stronger as the tournament progresses. With match-winning figures of 4/25 at an economy rate of 6.25, he was the RCB bowler of choice against Lucknow. The Australian superstar will look to keep up the good work as the Bangalore franchise looks to extend their winning streak.
Mohammed Siraj has improved with each game and appears to be more settled in the death overs after a shaky start to the IPL 2022. He returned with figures of 1/31 in their most recent match against the Sunrisers and can only hope to improve from here.
