IPL 2022 – 3 Players who have played for both CSK and MI
Two of the most successful teams in the history of the IPL are currently struggling to make an impact in this season of the tournament with Chennai having won 2 games and Mumbai yet to get a single win so far. The recently concluded game between the two sides saw the men in yellow grab a narrow victory over a hapless Mumbai side who are all but out of a spot in the playoff stage of the tournament. Rohit Sharma has a lot of questions to answer while Jadeja will be looking to start a winning run with his team. Through history, we have seen some epic players representing either of these sides, but in this article, we are going to talk about 3 players who have represented both the teams through their IPL careers.
Number 1. Dwayne Bravo
The West Indian all-rounder is one of the most well-known players in the IPL. Dwayne Bravo began his IPL career with Mumbai, where he spent the first three seasons. He was later signed by Chennai in the 2011 auction and has remained with the team to this day. Bravo played for Gujarat Lions while CSK was barred from the tournament in 2016 and 2017.
He is most commonly connected with CSK and has won numerous awards with the Yellow Army, the most recent of which was becoming the IPL’s leading wicket-taker. During his time with Chennai, the all-rounder has also produced some outstanding batting performances. Bravo has been a vital component of the Chennai franchise and has played a role in several of their remarkable victories.
Bravo has been one of the most economical bowlers for CSK this season, taking 10 wickets in six matches thus far. He hasn’t had many opportunities to bat yet, but he’ll do well if given the chance.
Number 2. Harbhajan Singh
The former Indian all-rounder, fondly known as Bhajji pa, has only played for three IPL teams, two of which have been Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. He joined Mumbai in the inaugural IPL season in 2008 and stayed with the team for over a decade.
Harbhajan Singh was signed by CSK in the 2018 auction after being released by the five-time IPL champions. The off-spinner had a productive season for CSK in 2019, with 16 wickets in 11 matches. He has played the most of his games with MI, appearing in 136 games and taking 127 wickets in those ten years.
Harbhajan Singh did not sell in the 2022 auction but has had a successful IPL career. He has 150 IPL wickets in 163 games, at an economy of 7.07 runs per over. He declared his retirement from all formats of the game this year and joined the commentary panel.
Number 3. Ambati Rayudu
He made his IPL debut in 2010 with the Mumbai Indians and wowed everyone with his regular performances. His time with the Mumbai franchise earned him a national call-up, and he later joined the Indian team.
He was eventually signed by the Chennai Super Kings when they made their comeback after a two-year ban in 2018, and he has been a productive player for the team ever since. He was instrumental in the franchise’s championships in 2018 and 2021. CSK fought hard to repurchase him in the mega auction this year, paying a cost of INR 6.75 crore.
Rayudu, like his squad, has struggled during the current IPL season. His biggest score this season is 46 runs, and the middle-order batter has only 128 runs in six games.
