IPL 2022 – The best Royal Challengers Bangalore lineup to face the Lucknow Super Giants

On April 19, the Royal Challengers Bangalore will face the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022 Match 31 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Both clubs will be brimming with confidence following their respective victories. The Royal Challengers Bangalore returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 16-run victory over the Delhi Capitals.

The middle order and bowlers were very impressive in the last game, which enabled Bangalore to win. As a result, the club management is unlikely to make any changes to the starting XI, even more so now that star medium-pacer Harshal Patel has returned after missing the game against CSK due to personal circumstances. Siddharth Kaul, the seasoned pacer, will once again have to play the waiting game.

Keeping all this in mind, here is the best Royal Challengers Bangalore lineup to face the Lucknow Super Giants.

Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat continue to open the innings

Except for his quickfire 88 in the season opener against the Punjab Kings, skipper Faf du Plessis has not performed particularly well, amassing just 154 runs from six matches with a strike rate of 123.20 and an average of 25.67. He’ll be trying to lead RCB from the 22 yard line in the upcoming game by assuring a quick start.

Anuj Rawat, Faf’s opening partner, was dismissed for a golden duck against DC. Despite the occasional loss, the squad will have trust in him, and he will be anxious to roar back to form in the next encounter and reclaim his much-needed self-confidence.

Virat Kohli, Shahbaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik (w), and Suyash Prabhudessai consolidate the middle order

This season, RCB’s greatest strength has been their middle order. Virat Kohli, the world’s best batsman, will be looking for his first big knock of the year after an unfortunate run-out curtailed his stay at the crease in the previous match. Suyash Prabhudessai was unable to select Kuldeep Yadav, and a mistimed reverse sweep cost him six runs. He’d be hoping for a decisive knock to cement his place in the Starting XI.

Shahbaz Ahmed has been outstanding in the middle order, scoring an unbeaten 21-ball 32 in the last game, which was also a match-winning one. Dinesh Karthik has been a lifesaver for Bangalore this season. He smashed 66 runs off 34 deliveries. The Tamil Nadu cricketer has scored 197 runs in six matches, averaging 197 and striking out at a rate of 209.57.

Glenn Maxwell and Wanindu Hasaranga add depth and all-rounder support

Glenn Maxwell’s counter-attacking 55 off 34 balls in the previous game resurrected the RCB innings after their top-order was knocked for a duck. In three games, he has scored 89 runs. The Australian all-rounder is yet to register a wicket and will be seeking for a chance against LSG.

Wanindu Hasaranga, a Sri Lankan leg-spinner, has not had many opportunities with the bat, but he possesses the ability to score some critical runs down in the order. In terms of bowling, the leggie has 11 scalps this season at an economy rate of 8.48. He’d be attempting to dethrone LSG at the top of the Purple Cap list.

Harshal Patel, Josh Hazlewood and Mohammed Siraj form the bowling attack

Harshal Patel may have been bowled out in his last match against DC, but he has six wickets in five games thus far. The Purple Cap winner from last season will be looking to add to his tally of wickets with his medium-pace by bamboozling Lucknow’s illustrious batting line-up.

Mohammed Siraj and Josh Hazlewood bowled remarkably effectively under pressure against the Delhi Capitals and were, in fact, the bowlers’ picks for Bangalore. Siraj finished with 2/31, while Australia’s pace sensation finished with 3/28. The pace trio will be eager to hit the ground running.
