IPL 2022 – Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings Match 29 Preview

Gujarat Titans – the league’s newbies – may easily believe that life is far too simple in the league. On the other hand, the Chennai Super Kings – the battle-hardened veterans – understand that nothing comes easily. Ravindra Jadeja’s captaincy has been a nightmare so far, but their win over Royal Challengers Bangalore could help heal some of the early scars.

However, as they prepare to face Titans, there are a number of areas that want improvement. Rututaj Gaikwad has yet to bat beyond the powerplay this season. Moeen Ali, however, has been unable to replicate the batting impact that helped CSK win the India leg last season. For the time being, CSK’s batsmen are Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube. They found a wicket-taker in Maheesh Theekshana, something they really needed this season.

The Titans’ challenge will not be simple. There is a sense that the Titans bowling unit is still adjusting to its new rhythm. Mohammed Shami, Rashid Khan, Lockie Ferguson, and Hardik Pandya have all performed admirably on various occasions and might prove difficult to handle with for a shaky CSK line-up that has seen multiple misfires. The Titans’ one weakness thus far has been at the top of the list. Matthew Wade’s form and Vijay Shankar’s dismal performances have been masked somewhat by Shubman Gill and Pandya’s innings.

CSK need to build on their previous victory and tie together a few clinical performances. On the other side, the Titans have an opportunity to pull away from the chasing group at the top.

Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings Match 29 – Tactics and Lineups

Gujarat Titans

So far this season, the Titans have taken the most powerplay wickets (12). Given Gaikwad, Uthappa, and Moeen all have a solid record against Rashid – with all three batters scoring freely against the legspinner – the Titans’ early wickets will be critical. While Shami has struggled in the opening six overs of the game against Lucknow Super Giants, Ferguson has compensated with his important strikes.

Predicted Lineup – Matthew Wade (wk), Shubman Gill, Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Abhinav Manohar, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami, Yash Dayal

Chennai Super Kings

Dube has scored 159 runs in overs ranging from 7 to 15 for CSK this season. He has a strike rate of 199.28 against pacers and a strike rate of 155.93 against spinners. The Titans will attempt to present Dube with a Rashid Khan test, who he has previously faced for only six balls.

Predicted Lineup – Robin Uthappa, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja (c), MS Dhoni (wk), Dwayne Bravo, Chris Jordan, Maheesh Theekshana, Mukesh Choudhary.
