Matches in the IPL 2022 playoffs are anticipated to be held in Lucknow and Ahmedabad

The IPL 2022 is well underway, with all teams eager to create an impression as the season unfolds. While some of them hope to maintain their superb run, others who are failing at the moment will look to make apologies in the future bouts as the competition heats up.

Meanwhile, it has been claimed that two additional stadiums will be tasked with hosting the May playoff matches. Initially, it was believed that Ahmedabad will host the playoffs, but recent rumours indicate that Lucknow has been added to the roster. As of now, official confirmation is pending.

According to sources familiar with the development, Lucknow and Ahmedabad may be awarded hosting rights for the playoffs due to the addition of two new teams from those cities this season. If all goes well, Lucknow will host the first qualifier and eliminator, while Ahmedabad will host the second qualifier and final.

At the moment, Maharashtra hosts all league matches. Each of the ten teams playing has been separated into two groups. The league phase will take place at four venues in Mumbai and Pune. The Mumbai leg will be played at Wankhede, CCI-Brabourne, and DY Patil Stadium, while the Pune leg will be played entirely at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium.

With the inclusion of two additional franchises, the number of teams rose from eight to ten, bringing the total number of matches to 74, comprising 70 league matches and four elimination games, including the final.
