SRH extends a warm welcome to Glenn Phillips ahead of their next match against LSG
Sunrisers Hyderabad will be hoping for a great comeback against Lucknow Super Giants in their second IPL 2022 match on April 4 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, following a devastating 61-run setback to Rajasthan Royals in their campaign opener.
As they prepare to earn their first two points of the season, SRH issued an official announcement a day before their next game. The Orange Army made several significant acquisitions during February’s two-day auction, and one of those new members has arrived to join the team’s campaign. Glenn Phillips, a New Zealand cricketer, is that player.
The 2016 champions took to Twitter to share a video of Glenn Phillips joining the SRH squad just in time for their crucial showdown against LSG. The 25-year-old can be seen in the video enjoying a game of table tennis.
Glenn Phillips is available for selection in SRH’s next game, and if all goes well, the New Zealander could make the 2016 champions playing XI. At the IPL 2022 mega auction, the South African-born cricketer has acquired for his base price of INR 1.50 crore. He came late but has already served his statutory quarantine period.
Phillips had stated on his Instagram story that he was still in his native New Zealand, where he was stranded owing to a positive PCR travel test. It remains to be seen who would replace the overseas players if the emerging cricketer is given an opportunity in the playing XI.
