Niall O’Brien encourages Ravindra Jadeja to assume greater captaincy duty
Chennai Super Kings, the reigning Indian Premier League champions, have found themselves in an unfamiliar position after losing both of their initial matches. They were comprehensively outplayed by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2022 opener but produced a far more convincing batting showing against Lucknow Super Giants. Their bowlers, on the other hand, were ineffective, and LSG successfully chased down a monstrous total of over 200 runs.
At Chennai Super Kings, there has been a shift in leadership. MS Dhoni stood down as captain, handing the reins to Ravindra Jadeja, their second-most experienced player, and a world-class all-rounder. Until now, the 34-year-old has been unable to express himself freely, struggling with both bat and ball.
Niall O’Brien, a former Irish cricketer, says Ravindra Jadeja has a lot to learn about captaincy. Additionally, he pushes the Indian all-rounder to take on additional responsibilities, like moving up the batting order, as Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya has done thus far.
Niall O’Brien addressed another facet of Ravindra Jadeja’s captaincy, stating that the Indian should bowl his entire four-over quota. In the preceding game, Jadeja contributed with just two overs. As a result, the former Irish cricketer encourages him to take the initiative. Hardik, who has been named Gujarat Titans’ captain, has been loving his new job. The all-rounder has climbed the batting order and opened the bowling with the new ball.
