Ricky Ponting names Rishabh Pant as India’s future captain

Ricky Ponting, the head coach of the Delhi Capitals, expressed confidence in his team’s chances against Mumbai during a virtual press conference on Saturday. “We’ve worked extremely hard to ensure that the lads here are prepared for their first task. I believe our squad has adequate depth. Yes, we will be without a few international players for the first couple of games, but that is of no concern to us. I’m confident that we’ll get off to a strong start on Sunday.”

When questioned about his personal aims for the season, Captain Rishabh Pant stated, “I have not thought about my personal goals.” We are solely focused on the team’s demands, which is the primary objective of the Delhi Capitals. While it’s always thrilling to add new players to our roster, we’re sticking to the same procedure we’ve used for the last several years.”

The wicketkeeper-batsman also discussed the additions of David Warner and Rovman Powell to the Delhi club for this season, saying, “David Warner was one of the most expensive purchases we made in the auction.” I am overjoyed that he has joined the team. Rovman Powell could possibly be our X-factor. He possesses enormous strength, and I believe it will be beneficial to have him on our side. Hopefully, Rovman can live up to his expectations this year and assist the Delhi Capitals.”

When asked about the similarities between Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma, the Head Coach stated, “Rishabh and Rohit are extremely similar individuals.” I’m sure they’re great friends and are swapping notes on leadership and captaincy. Rishabh’s journey could very well mirror Rohit’s. I have no doubt that Rishabh will one day be an international captain.”
