Ravi Ashwin believes that the RCB will re-instate Kohli as the captain from next season

Cricket lovers the world over should have marked their calendars on March 26, when the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are a squad to keep an eye on as they continue their pursuit of the elusive championship. For the first time in his career, Faf du Plessis will captain RCB this season, with Virat Kohli standing down following the completion of the previous season.

Du Plessis, who had been a critical component in CSK’s line-up for a decade, was acquired in the blockbuster auction for a whopping INR 7 crore. Because he was so impressive during his time as South Africa’s captain, expectations for him are also rather high. However, the Proteas batsman is 37 years old, and many believe he will not be RCB’s long-term captain.

Ravichandran Ashwin, the veteran Indian off-spinner who will represent the Rajasthan Royals this season, shares the same sentiment. While he lauded Du Plessis’ selection as RCB captain, he believes Kohli may be reinstalled as captain beginning next season.
