These are the two teams who can make it to the finals of the IPL 2022
The new season of the IPL is yet to begin, but the mega auction has left fans in a frenzy. The squads have got a new look about them and while some of the teams have gone for wholesale changes, there are some who have tried to retain their core. Obviously, it is impossible at this point in time, to predict who can win the IPL, but after seeing the overall squads, we decided to make a bold prediction about the two teams who will make it to the very end and battle it out for the title.
Due to the limited availability of high-caliber athletes, no squad is without holes or flaws. Even heavyweights like MI and CSK face loopholes despite their high retention rates. Overall, and especially as a result of the irregular auction dynamics, every franchise has a weak point.
Without further ado, here are the two teams, who we think can reach the finals of the IPL 2022 –
Finalist Number 1 – Rajasthan Royals
Thankfully, the Royals have assembled a very stable roster for the IPL 2022. Unlike in the past, their lower middle-order appears to be quite capable. The franchise’s spin bowling has also been bolstered as a result of the mega auction. However, RR only has five all-rounders.
Padikkal and Yashasvi Jaiswal will be the two openers in terms of squad composition. Below them, the pink army’s two colossal stars—Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler—can be found. Even in the bottom middle order, solid explosive options such as Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, and Jimmy Neesham are available. However, the only weakness they may have is the fifth bowling option provided by Neesham and Parag together.
Moving on to the bowling section, the pink army is comprised of a group of seasoned individuals. The franchise will benefit from senior spinners such as Yuzi Chahal and R Ashwin. When it comes to pace bowling, Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna will be the obvious selections with Navdeep Saini also available to join as a third pacer or replacement.
Apart from its essential cogs, RR will have other cricketers on hand in the form of Rassie van der Dussen, Daryl Mitchell, and Obed McCoy. In sum, after many years, the RR family appears to be well-equipped to go for its second IPL title.
Finalist Number 2 – Lucknow Super Giants
The Super Giants have astounded everyone with their shrewd acquisitions. The franchise has developed a strong squad with the assistance of its seasoned support staff. In comparison to the other teams, their lower-middle order is impeccably stocked. As with defending champions CSK, Lucknow has a total of eight all-rounders.
KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock appear to be a suitable opening pair in terms of batting. Even Manish Pandey, who is ranked third, appears to be a sturdy block. Apart from them, Stoinis, Hooda, and Krunal Pandya can live as they choose. At number seven, the tall Jason Holder becomes the icing on the cake. In general, this batting lineup can be optimistic about their possibilities of chasing any IPL target.
However, bowling-wise, their depth extends just to their frontline guys. Avesh Khan does not have a strong backup, particularly when it comes to the Indian speed assault. In total, Holder, Ravi Bishnoi, Mark Wood, and Avesh Khan will be critical cogs. Overall, if the Lucknow Super Giants can ensure full availability of its front-line players, IPL 2022 can be conclusively their maiden glory.
