Suresh Raina and Ravi Shastri will serve as co-commentators for IPL 2022

Suresh Raina and Ravi Shastri will serve as commentators for the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. This will be the first time Raina has been left out of the cash-rich league, as he went unsold in February’s blockbuster auction. He has also not been named as a substitute by any of the teams, despite the fact that a few players have withdrawn or been ruled out for various reasons.

Ravi Shastri stepped down as India’s head coach following the T20 World Cup last year. He was apparently approached by one of the two new teams for a coaching position ahead of the IPL, but things did not pan out as planned.

Shastri, on the other hand, will return as a pundit for the first time since being appointed head coach of team India in 2017. Suresh Raina and Ravi Shastri will both join the Hindi commentary panel for the money-spinning competition. Interestingly, this is a new job for the latter, who spent the majority of his post-cricket career commentating on the game in English.

Meanwhile, Ravi Shastri has been said to be taking Hindi lessons on Zoom from an expert and practicing commentary ahead of the season. His return to commentary, albeit in a different language, will undoubtedly be invigorating for fans during the IPL 2022 season.
