In announcing a 21-member list of centrally contracted players for the 2022 season, the Bangladesh Cricket Board stated that all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will be given an all-format contract.
Because Shakib has been included in the all-format category despite the fact that he has been granted rest by the BCB to recover from tiredness, there is no longer any doubt about his availability for the national team in the future.
The statement was made just hours before Shakib’s arrival from the United Arab Emirates. The all-rounder is due to meet with BCB president Nazmul Hasan to discuss his future with the organization.
They had received verbal assurances from Shakib that he would be available to play for the national team in all formats following his decision to take a break from the current tour of South Africa. A BCB official told Cricbuzz that the board will not pay a cricketer’s wage during the period in which he is absent unless he is injured, according to the report.
All-format contracts have been awarded to only five cricketers, namely Shakib Al Hasan, Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Liton Das, who are also part of the group. From the previous year, the board implemented a contract system that was format-specific.
