BCB president questions Shakib’s commitment to national team

Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan questioned Shakib Al Hasan’s commitment to the national team on Monday (March 7) after he claimed that he is emotionally and physically weary and will be unable to compete in the forthcoming South Africa trip.

Shakib was named in the BCB’s team for the South Africa trip after agreeing to play in the three one-day internationals and two Tests, however, he initially declined to participate in the Test series in order to keep himself available for the Indian Premier League.

However, none of the franchises expressed interest in signing him, allowing him to make himself available for the entirety of the tour. However, there was a late twist in the tale when he revealed on Sunday that constant cricket is wearing him out.

Shakib shared this opinion during his impromptu press conference prior to departing for Dubai on March 6 but added that he had spoken with the BCB Cricket operations chairman about his mental and physical status.
