Dewald Brewis affirms that MI has always been one of his favourite teams
Dewald Brevis of South Africa was one of the current teen sensations to emerge from the 2022 U19 World Cup. The 18-year-old player drew the attention of the whole cricketing globe with his flawless stroke play and, more importantly, an eerie similarity to former South African star, AB de Villiers, in terms of his batsmanship.
The young batsman, dubbed ‘Baby AB’ following his World Cup heroics, was a coveted item at the IPL mega auction, finally being purchased by the five-time winners Mumbai Indians for INR 3 crore. Brevis acknowledged his admiration for the franchise in the same context.
He also admitted to viewing the Netflix documentary ‘Cricket Fever,’ which was launched in 2019 and follows Mumbai’s journey through an IPL season. After seeing the video, the right-handed hitter stated that he gained an understanding of the squad and saw them as one big family.
“MI has always been one of my favorite teams. We were in isolation before the U19 World Cup and I watched the Netflix documentary Cricket Fever. I can sense that familiar feeling and how the players are one big family,” Brevis said while speaking to Mumbai Indian’s official website.
