Worcestershire sign Azhar Ali as Matthew Wade’s replacement
Azhar Ali, the experienced Pakistan batter, has been signed up as Worcestershire’s overseas player for the entire 2022 County season, the club announced on Thursday (February 17). Azhar replaced Matthew Wade as the Australian wicketkeeper-batter had to pull out of the County Season due to his upcoming Indian Premier League stint with Gujarat Titans.
Azhar, who has featured in 91 Tests for Pakistan since his debut in 2010, has scored 6721 runs at an average of 42.53 with 18 hundred. He also has prior County experience having played three seasons for Somerset.
