Shakib set to skip Test series in South Africa

Bangladesh allrounder Shakib Al Hasan is all set to miss the two-match Test series against South Africa, scheduled in March-April. It is understood that the all-rounder will be available for the three-match ODI series and later will join the Indian Premier League if he is picked by any franchise for the cash-rich tournament, scheduled from March 27.

BCB has informed the BCCI that their star all-rounder will miss the IPL from May 8 to 23. Bangladesh is scheduled to play two Tests against Sri Lanka at that point, which is part of the ICC Test Championship.

Shakib had also skipped the Tests in New Zealand and recently revealed that he was contemplating his Test future going forward since it was getting harder to continue playing all three formats.
