Tamim Iqbal set to take a six month break from T20 cricket

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal said on Thursday that he is taking a break from international T20 cricket for the next six months. He will continue to play domestic cricket though.

Tamim is unlikely to play the shortest format till the next 50-over World Cup in 2023, but he changed his mind after having several meetings with the board high-ups.

It was learned that the board asked him not to take a break till the next World Cup 2023 and instead take a sabbatical for six months, as it will give them an option to have him for the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled in Australia in October.

Tamim will focus on the Test format as the Test Championship is ongoing and with the ODI World Cup coming up, he will work towards getting his form going in that format.
