Roach, Bonner and King set to return to the West Indies Lineup against India
Kemar Roach, Nkrumah Bonner, and Brandon King have earned recalls to West Indies ODI squad for the forthcoming three-match series against India, starting on February 6.
Fast bowler Roach, who has played 92 ODIs and bagged 124 wickets, last represented West Indies in the 50-over format against India in Port of Spain in August 2019. Meanwhile, the top-order batter, Nkrumah Bonner, last played an ODI for West Indies in Bangladesh in January 2021. He has played three ODIs for West Indies and has also partaken in 67 List A matches, compiling 1956 runs. Incidentally, in the last year, Bonner has turned out to be one of the mainstays of West Indies’ Test batting unit, averaging over 40.
On the other hand, King hasn’t played for the Caribbean side in ODIs since the series versus Ireland in 2019-20. The top-order batter was in fine form in the T20I series in Pakistan in 2021-22 and he has also notched up a fifty in the ongoing T20I rubber against England. He has also accumulated 743 runs in List A cricket.
The ODIs will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on February 6, 9, and 11 followed by the three T20Is at Eden Gardens. The West Indies are set to announce the squad for T20Is on Friday.
