New Zealand’s limited over tour of Australia postponed

New Zealand’s upcoming limited-overs tour of Australia has now been postponed until further notice due to New Zealand’s quarantine requirements and border controls which resulted in the lack of clarity as to when the squad would be able to return home.

NZC and CA had put forth a proposal to prolong the length of the tour so that New Zealand could return home “at a time more manageable for the MIQ process, but the government confirmed it had no capacity to meet the request.” The tour comprising 3 ODIs and a lone T20I, was initially scheduled to be played between January 24 and February 9; both boards are now in discussion as to when the postponed series can be played.

Both the cricket boards reviewed the situation and after all permutations and combinations, they had to come to a conclusion that for the larger benefit of the players, staff, and the fans, it was better for the series to take place at a later date.
