World Test Championships updated standings after the Ashes completion

Australia defeated England by 146 runs in the 5th and final Ashes Test to secure the series 4-0 and also register 12 more points on ICC’s World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 points table.

The first three matches were comprehensive wins for the Aussies as they held on to the urn after the 2-2 series draw in the 2019-2020 series. England showed stern resistance in the fourth Test at the SCG but it was an anomaly as they resorted to old ways in the final Test.

As for the points table, Sri Lanka remains on top with a 100% win record following their 2-0 series victory over West Indies. Australia holds on to second place while England continues to languish at the bottom of the table with just one win in nine matches.

Previous years’ finalists, New Zealand and India are in sixth and fifth place respectively. They have a few home games lined up where they will be keen on securing each and every single point.
