IPL return may be on the cards for Mitchell Starc

The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) might see Mitchell Starc’s return to the competition after seven years. One of the finest pacers going around, Starc is a bowler which most of the franchises would like to have.  However, he has kept himself away from the lucrative league due to workload management and other reasons. Starc last featured in the 2015 edition of the league, where he served Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore.

However, Starc now plans to bag a deal in the 2022 competition. Though the pacer hasn’t finally made his decision, he’s considering putting his name forward in the auction pool. With a mega auction taking place this year, all the franchises will carry a heavy purse for the auction event. Hence, Starc can fetch big bucks if he decides to put his name forward.

Meanwhile, the left-arm pacer has been on a roll in the ongoing Ashes 2021-22. With 14 wickets in four games, Starc is currently the second-highest wicket-taker of the series, only behind off-spinner Nathan Lyon. The last and final Test in Hobart will be a Day-Night affair and Australia will step in with an unassailable 3-0 lead.

Considering the upcoming schedule and Starc’s history with injuries, the selectors and team management might decide to give him a break from the Pink-Ball game. However, the pacer will be more than happy to take the field and make the pink cherry talk.
