IPL 2022 set to feature a new title partner after Vivo announces exit

In a shocking turn of events, Vivo, who has been the title sponsor of the IPL for a fair few years now, has announced their intention to pull out from the tournament, and it looks like the phone brand will most likely be replaced by none other than Tata.

The news was broken today by the BCCI, who is now hot in preparations for the next edition of their hugely successful T20 extravaganza. Just a few days back, the cricket board also announced that it is looking at various alternatives to host the tournament, including an all Maharashtra spell. The option to take the IPL abroad also remains viable at this point in time.

A BCCI official also added that the request from Vivo to pull out has been accepted, and the Governing Council has approved it. We have also come to understand that the BCCI will get the same fee for the title sponsorship of the tournament.

It will be interesting to see how this develops in the coming days, and how the overall branding of the IPL will change with an all-new title sponsor coming into the fold.
